Gueststudio HWW

Artists and curators working in the field of contemporary art are invited to apply for a residency at Het Wilde Weten, Rotterdam, from 1st May – 31st July (3 months).

Het Wilde Weten runs an Artist in Residence program, providing (international) artists the opportunity to live and work in a studio-building amongst 16 active artists. Because we are an artist run initiative, this residency is best suited to artist and curators that are also engaged in autonomous projects. Rotterdam has a vibrant art scene with many artist-run initiatives, galeries and exhibition spaces. A residency at Het Wilde Weten is a great way to get in touch with the local network of artists and art institutions. During these months, HWW is organizing an Open Studio weekend and celebrating 25 years of existence.

On the first floor the guest artist of Het Wilde Weten has access to a 30-sqm studio that is furnished with a chair, loft bed, wardrobe and a large table for desk related work. There is a private shower and shared toilet adjacent to the studio. Downstairs is a shared kitchen, on the second floor there’s a coffee corner. Furthermore the guest artist has access to a bicycle and a wireless internet connection. Bed linens and towels are provided. Only one person can sleep in the studio due to fire regulations.

At some point the guest artist will be asked to give an artist talk to serve as an introduction to the Rotterdam art scene and fellow HWW-members. These artist talks are often organised in cooperation with the other Artist in Residence programs in Rotterdam so that several guest artists who at that point reside in Rotterdam give a short introduction in an informal setting. Upon request an exhibition/event in the 80 sqm exhibition space of Het Wilde Weten is possible.
Costs of the guest studio at Het Wilde Weten are €350,00 per month.
Unfortunately Het Wilde Weten does not offer funding for our guest studio program. However we can provide a letter of invitation on request in order for you to apply for funding.
