New artists in residence Justine McDonnell and Joshua Thies (Aug – Oct)

Het Wilde Weten welcomes Justine McDonnell (IE) and Joshua Thies (USA/NL) as artists-in-residence from 1st of August to 31st of October. The artists are open to meeting people and setting up new collaborations, feel free to make an appointment by sending an email to residency@hetwildeweten.nl!

Justine McDonnell works across a range of media including live performance, text and sound installation. Justine is an artist based at Flax Art Studios, Belfast. She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions including, The Holden Gallery, Manchester (2021), Stabilimento Ostiense Festival, Rome (2020), The Lab Gallery, Dublin (2019), Golden Thread gallery, Belfast (2018), RAW Labs and Bow Arts, London (2018) and PS2, Belfast (2017). Her work has recently been featured in the July/August issue of Sculpture Magazine and she is a recipient of the 2021 Irish Arts Council Agility Award.

Influenced by the city of Rotterdam and the history of the building of Het Wilde Weten, throughout her residency she will create works that approach the staging and the physicality of the voice, activating new narratives across different sites of encounters.
