Thursday the 12th of May Het Wilde Weten hosts RAiR Artists Talks where current Rotterdam artists in residence present their work.

Walk in at 7.45 PM, starts at 8 PM straight.

Patrik Grijalvo Millois (1984, Bilbao, Spain) currently at HWW studied Fine Arts, Audiovisual Image and Photography at the University of the Basque Country and followed an academic year at the Athens Academy of Fine Arts. The International Photography Awards awarded his abstract photo work in 2010. The residency of Patrik is supported by Sala Rekalde, Bilbao.

Also talks by Jan Bode (1978, Göttingen, Germany), Suzanne van Rest (1982, Maastricht), Eva Frapiccini (1978, Recanati, Italy), Bildetage / Klaus Bock en Julia Haugeneder (Vienna, Austria) and Yurika Kashiwazaki (1984, Tokyo, Japan).

A new stop motion animation and an ‘on the spot’ installation by our former guest artist Gerben Meinders as part of the exhibition Sweatboxing – De Extra Scènes at Showroom MAMA Rotterdam.

‘Contains the EU’ an exposition that stems from the ‘At Home Anywhere’ project, a 15-month journey made by Esther Kokmeijer and Henrik Jan Haarink to all 27 countries in the EU.

The Atrium, The Hague City Hall, Spui 70, 2511 BT The Hague, The Netherlands.

Expositions in City Hall can be visited daily: Monday to Friday 7.00 – 19.00 hrs. / Thursday 7.00 – 21.30 hrs. / Saturday 9.30 – 17.00 hrs. / Closed on Sundays and holidays.

Tribal man is highly connected.
He is in a trance, a hypnosis.

In his video installation, Aaike Stuart illuminates the archaic aura of the Internet as a global tribe. Oppositely projected, the images feed and worship an invisible entity.

Shedule: Friday March 25th (19:30) dinner / presentation by Marijke Appelman. Saturday March 26th (12:00 – 20:00) KWARTET championships, KWARTET is a work by Koen Taselaar & Marijke Appelman. Also on Saturday (14:30) a picnic at San Isidro park by Comiendo Terreno. Sunday March 27th (12:00 to 20:00) Appeal to Probability workshop in the mountains by Marijke Appelman.

Marijke was invited by former HWW guest artist Carlos Fernández-Pello (ES).

Angel de la Rubia

In his new works that combine photography, drawing and projections, artist Angel de la Rubia (ES) examines how shifting contexts articulate memory and identity. This presentation turns the exhibition space into a promenade where standing ruins answer our gaze with a murmur of vanquished words.

Angel de la Rubia is artist in residence at Het Wilde Weten from January through March 2011.

During the year of the Cultural Capital of Europe Ruhr.2010 six artists from Rotterdam were given the opportunity to work for one month in Marxloh, part of the industrial city of Duisburg (Germany). The exhibition brings together seven artistic approaches to the complex and transforming agglomeration of industry and habitation in Marxloh and the surrounding Ruhr area. In November 2010 the exhibition has been shown in Marxloh. 1 maand Marxloh was initiated and organized by the artists Kim Zieschang and Arnoud Schuurman.
